My first DIY!

Hello World!  I am freshly college graduated and have tiptoed my way into the job search.  Not very motivated to get right to it, so far I have applied to one position, got an interview out of it, and waiting to hear back.  In the meantime, I finally have the time to put into all those crafty things I've been wanting to do, especially in designing my home the way I want it to be.  Right now, nothing is how I would like it.  It's all furnished, but it is high time the furnishings got updated and changed to my liking.

I am going to record my progress and projects in this blog.  From my capstone class I learned about the importance of documentation, and its also just fun to share and boast about the things I've accomplished!  I chose the name Found Frills for my blog because I will try my best not to buy things new.  1. It's expensive and I am a penny pincher.  2. It's environmentally friendly (I took a whole course on sustainability, and it kinda stuck).  I get my project inspirations from a wonderful website called Pinterest and other crafty websites, magazines, and TV shows.

I don't recall where I got the inspiration for my first project, but it was something small and easy I could do to start out with.

My husband and I went on our very first thrift store spree one day and I had a shopping list.  I was looking for a round, ornate frame, and came upon this one:

It didn't have as much detail in the frame as I had hoped, but I didn't know what my chances were of finding another frame in this size and shape so I bought it, $6.

Next I bought a half yard of white lace fabric and some spray paint.

Then I took out the glass from the frame and painted the frame white and the picture lilac:

I like to make everything as temporary as possible.  I thought about gluing the fabric to the back of the picture, but I didn't know how well that would work so i just wrapped it and tied the corners of the fabric together in the back with string.

So I finished assembling it, hung it on the wall, added my earrings, and done! Easy and beautiful!  I think I will make one for my mom too, she would love it.

*definitely need some more earrings!*
